Course Briefings & Packet Pickup

Course Briefings:

The Nation's Triathlon will offer OPTIONAL Course Briefings on Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11 at the Hilton Washington. Briefings will also be available online for athletes to watch at their convenience. (Available at least 10 days prior to Race Day.) These briefings will provide athletes with information about the race course, race rules and regulations and racing in Washington, DC. Briefings are not mandatory, but are suggested for athletes who have not completed The Nation's Triathlon in the past.

In addition to course briefings, there will be several New Triathlete Briefings each day, dedicated to the first time triathlete. These briefings will go into further details about The Nation's Triathlon and triathlon racing in general.

Packet Pickup:

Packet Pickup will also take place at the Hilton Washington. ALL athletes must pick up their packets on Friday, September 10 or Saturday, September 11. Packets will NOT be distributed on race day. ALL members of a team MUST pick up their individual packet, team members do not have to pick up their packets at the same time. Race bracelets will be given to all athletes and will be inside of each packet. Packets will be held under Team name.

Packet pickup will be held at the Expo, located in the Hilton Washington
1919 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20009.

Packet Pickup Schedule

  • Friday, September 10th: NOON - 8:00 PM.
  • Saturday, September 11th: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Preparation

What to Bring to Packet Pick Up:

All athletes MUST bring all of the following:
  1. Government issued valid photo ID
  2. USAT card if a member

What to do when you arrive at the expo:

  1. Attend a course briefing, if you'd like
  2. Go to the USAT table and present your government issued photo ID and your current USAT card. If you do not have a USAT card you must become a one day member for $10
  3. Find the registration table with your bib number and pick up your race packet
  4. It is your responsibility to make sure everything you need is inside of your race packet. We will provide you with the checklist of items that should be in your packet. DO NOT LEAVE for the day until you are sure all items are in there. In the race packet is your race day bag and race day bagtag. Please make sure you bring both back with you on race day if you want to have any of your clothes or shoes waiting for you at the finish line
  5. Walk over to the goody bag area and get your goody bag and race shirt
  6. Check out the Expo: Walk around, visit with sponsors and exhibitors, and meet your fellow athletes.
  7. Have a great day. Eat well and sleep well

Bike Racking

All athletes must rack their bike on Saturday, September 11, 2010, AFTER picking up your race packet. You will need your race bracelet to enter the transition area. We will have bike mechanics on duty Saturday and race morning able to perform minor bike maintenance at no charge. They will have bike pumps, but we do recommend bringing your own and sharing it. The bike mechanic tent is located within the transition area.

ABSOLUTELY NO PACKET PICKUP ON RACE DAY. NO EXCEPTIONS. THERE IS NO ADMITTANCE TO THE TRANSITION AREA WITHOUT A RACE BRACELET WORN ON YOUR WRIST.
