Nation's Tri Swim Start Update
Author: Michelle Harburg
Waiting for your age group wave to start is no fun, especially in the rain! In our 2010 post race survey many athletes asked us to find a way to reduce the wait times, especially for those that started in some of the final waves. We listened and decided to pilot a swim time trial start in 2011. So what does this mean? Here are a few of the most Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Do I need a coach?
Author: Frank Sole
Many times I witness triathletes with their workout in hand unloading their workout bag in front of their respected lane ready to go. They lay out their written swim plan so carefully prepared for them by their tri coach or their freshly printed off cookie?cutter workout not really sure if the distance is even right for them.
The Debate: To Wetsuit or Not To Wetsuit.
Author: Sara Gimmy
Many triathletes are nervous about the swim portion of a triathlon, and many rely on their wetsuit to feel a sense of ease going into the first leg of the race. Here at The Nation’s Triathlon, we constantly get questioned about whether the race will be wetsuit legal. Last year it was a close call, and the day before the race gave us a comfortable feeling of wetsuit legal… thought not everyone wore theirs. The question still stands: Wetsuit or No Wetsuit? For this week’s blog, we’re getting the pro-wetsuit angle from DC Triathlete Sara Gimmy. Next swim blog we’ll look into the mind of a non-wetsuit-wearing triathlete.
